About Us

A qualified and licensed tradesman with over 18 years of industry experience, Clayton heads up the Refined Painting Projects team with a passion for client centric service, and finessed technical skill. Clayton is renowned for his dedication and drive by clients and fellow tradesmen alike. This, combined with his keen eye for detail and genuine care for his work makes Clayton one of Brisbane’s foremost painters.

From a young age Clayton knew that he wanted to become a tradesman, and was drawn to painting in his teenage years due to the level of transformation that he knew he could provide for future clients. Upon commencing his qualification with TAFE NSW, Clayton’s talent for the trade was immediately evident. With guidance from some of Australia’s leading painting teachers, he competed in and placed third in Australia at the National World Skills competition, before graduating from TAFE NSW awarded as the Most Outstanding Student in the construction industry.

Clayton completed his apprenticeship, and quickly progressed to become a site foreman with the same company. This role provided him with his first taste of management and leadership, and in turn another passion began to develop. With 10 years and a variety of experiences behind him, Clayton made his move to Queensland in 2011 on the hunt for a new challenge.

After some time scaling and painting iconic high-rises as a rope access technician on the Gold Coast, Clayton headed to Brisbane and quickly secured a role as the Project Manager, and later the General Manager, of a high-end painting company. Clayton’s time in these roles rekindled his passion for leadership, and brought him new skills in quoting, tendering, scheduling, client management, and business management. With his long-held dream and now the experience of managing a business with up to 10 staff, Clayton decided to venture out on his own, creating Refined Painting Projects with partner Adele.

Refined was formed to be the company that would align with Clayton’s own values and dedication to putting his clients first. Whilst providing high-quality and long-lasting finishes is still of the utmost importance, equally so is the client’s experience with Refined. He, Adele, and the Refined team hold their clients’ experience at the forefront of every decision they make. They are passionate about building relationships, truly getting to know their clientele and their needs, and doing as much as possible to ensure that their painting experience is effortless.

Clayton is looking forward to developing himself and Refined Painting Projects over the coming years, and to revolutionising the way a painting experience should be.
